The Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant is a major infrastructure project in Vietnam’s heavy industry sector, located in the Vung Ang Economic Zone, Ha Tinh Province. Developed under the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model, the project is spearheaded by Vung Ang II Thermal Power Company Limited (VAPCO) with a total investment of USD 2.2 billion.

Key highlights:

Capacity: 2 generating units with a combined output of 1,330 MW
Technology: Ultra-supercritical coal-fired technology
Fuel Source: Imported coal from Australia and Indonesia
Timeline:
- Unit 1 is expected to begin commercial operation in July 2025
- Unit 2 is scheduled for November 2025

The project is being executed by a consortium of major contractors, including Doosan Heavy Industries, Samsung C&T, and Thai Binh Duong Group. Notably, Ngôi Sao Châu Á (STAR ASIA) is proud to supply key components such as air dampers, grilles, louvers, and cable trays under the Starduct brand.
